Industrial Belt Grinders VS. Industrial Belt Sanders

Both of these units are heavy duty and great for all work environments whether your facility is large or small and each of these units have a place in your facility.

To help with this post we’ll use the 2FSM and BG248 as example machines (speeds will vary depending on the size of the units).

Traditionally when doing clean up work you would you the work table and the flat surface behind the belt (also called the platen) only and on the belt grinder you also can utilize the bottom wheel as well (also called the contact wheel).

The wheel durometers are different on all of our belt grinders 70 duro contact wheels that have standard serations come standard (others are available and are special order).  On our belt sanders they will vary.

As stated before the SFPM is going to be different as well.  Traditionally the SFPM on the belt grinder is going to be faster than the SFPM on the belt sander.

2FSM SFPM is around 4500 and on the BG248 is going to be around 7200 (these speeds will vary on the machine).  Also I need to point out that with faster SFPM on the belt grinder you will not only remove material quicker but the heat will be minimized as well so your material can be safely handled well deburring.
